Most regular FERS retirees get a COLA only from age 62, and it is "diet": the full CPI increase if 2% or less, 2% if the increase is 2–3%, and 1 point less if over 3%. For 2027, FERS gets 2.6% and CSRS gets 3.6%.

Special-provision, disability and survivor annuitants can get COLAs before 62.
